Civil Engineering Design
Civil engineering design has been undertaken by the 'Practice' for over 20-years.
The design elements designed over those years for building regulations approval and for other purposes are,
Foundations - all (see below)
Ground beams - direct soil bearing or suspended onto piles
Retaining walls - all forms
Dwarf retaining walls for extension of cellar/basement depths so that shallow basements are useable
Underpinning
Piled foundations
Cantilever systems to relieve edge pressure at boundary conditions
Column bases
Rafts for low-bearing soils and in mining areas
Spread foundations
Reinforced concrete strip foundations
Foundations at the side of rivers and streams
Stabilisation of soils and increased bearing capacity methods
Roads and Sewers
The 'Practice' undertakes an integrated engineering design service for its clients and where civil engineering design combines with structural design of building structures above. Therefore all engineering elements are catered for from site investigations and foundation types to steel, concrete and timber building frames.
We have over 2-decades of hands-on experience for our clients and where the principal Dr David Hill's experience goes back even further. This has given us a fairly unique knowledge base to advise clients on the most cost-effective designs for their projects. Indeed, economic evaluation of the best structure type to satisfy the client's needs, can literally save the client thousands if not tens of thousands of pounds. As an example, the incorrect determination of foundation types can cost the client dearly, but conversely, the selection of the right fit-for purpose foundations, can save substantial sums. That is why a thorough investigation of soil and bearing capacities is essential to get it right in the first place. Unfortunately many client's are adverse to site investigations, but where this initial outlay can save the client in the long-term far more than an improper foundation design through over design considerations due to lack of basic site information. In this respect, over-design due to lack of vital geological information can increase the project costs by up to 5% on large project and by 10% on small projects.
Therefore you are on a winning course even before the project physically commences, using this practice's integrated services.
Considering the above and if you wish to build from the very start at the least costs, please ring us for a consultation whatever your civil engineering needs might be.
